Today, we are continuing our issue spotlight on labor by recognizing the importance of employee associations and labor unions. These groups have been hard at work for over a century, leveling the playing field for wage and benefit negotiations. Labor unions are responsible for innovations like weekends, overtime, child labor laws, paid vacation, minimum wage, and so much more.
The American economy owes a great deal to these organizations, and Utah's legislature must work to empower their continued growth. When workers thrive, so does Utah's economy.
The power of collective bargaining should be celebrated and supported at every opportunity. As the representative for House District 44, I will advocate for and strive to empower unions and workers, and look forward to learning from strong union advocates already in the legislature.
