Raising the minimum wage: a requirement for an expanding economy

After a week of talking about housing policy issues and solutions, this week our campaign is focusing on another core issue: labor and workers rights. We want to start with the minimum wage, which has not been raised in a decade, despite a rapidly increasing cost of living - Utah's inflation rate of 3.9% this year was the highest since 2012.

Minimum wage laborers work hard and make essential contributions to Utah's economy. They deserve to earn a wage that they can make a life out of. As a member of the Utah legislature I will fight for an increase in the minimum wage and greater pay equity across the board, and support legislation like last session's HB117. Utah's economy, and our communities, will be the stronger for it.
